Yala - Police are launching a manhunt for a Buddhist man over the massacre of 10 Muslims at a mosque in Narathiwat in June. Narathiwat police chief Pol Maj Gen Surachai Suebsuk said police had obtained an arrest warrant for Sutthirak Kongsuwan, 34, a resident of Narathiwat's Muang district. Sutthirak was suspected to be one of attackers who opened fire at the Al Furqan Mosque in Ipayae village in Narathiwat's Joh I Rong district on June 8.

Surachai said police found that the attackers used M16 and AK-47 assault rifles in the attack.

Police found that the AK-47 assault rifles were also used to attack and killed Muslim villages in Rangae district on November 17.

Surachai said police suspected that Sutthirak like to use violence and was related to a drug gang in the province.
